President Obama has officially nominated Dr. Regina Benjamin of Alabama to serve as U.S. Surgeon General pending Senate confirmation. President O. made the official announcement in the Rose Garden late this morning. Dr. Benjamin is also the first black woman to become president of the state medical society of Alabama.

Seacrest has closed a three-year deal with CKX, which is the parent of "Idol" producer 19 Entertainment, worth $15 million per year. According to reports under the contract, Seacrest will be exclusive to CKX in broadcast TV prime time to host "Idol" or any CKX-produced show that might succeed it. According to reports as well Seacrest is believed to be the richest reality host ever, he also has a separate cable deal with Comcast and is E! Entertainment's lead anchor. Charges Against Marion Berry Dropped

According to reports, prosecutors have dropped charges against former Washington Mayor Marion Barry, who was accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend. U.S. Park Police arrested the city councilman on Saturday on a stalking charge after they said a woman complained she was being stalked. The U.S. Attorney's Office said Wednesday that it would not pursue the stalking charges after reviewing evidence, according to the Associated Press.

An exhibition will take place in New York on Mandela's life and the work of his charitable organizations. Though its been a minute since we've seen or heard from Hilary,she's been doing her thing. She is said to receive the honor of youth ambassador to the children of the Colombian capital of Bogota from Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno in an official ceremony next month. Hilary will be teaming up with the non-profit organization Blessing For Backpacks for an expedition in Colombia next month. She'll spend five days visiting the country handing out backpacks filled with food to students between kindergarten and fifth grade.
